Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Dog Attack

Okay don`t know if this a glitch bug or meant to happen.

Start out in Divinty visit the Boars inn and the farmlands there are Dogs there they bark a lot but are not dangerous but nice Doggies.

Then later in the game these Dogs for no discernable reason will attack my character even if you enter the vicinity the Dog is in and you are not running and are not in combat mode the Dog still attacks .

Has this happened to anyone else is it a glitch ? or is there a reason why Dogs suddenly start attacking my character later in the game even though they are peaceable at the start of the game and anyway to prevent it since I really don`t like killing Dogs:)?

PS at no point do I ever remember having attcked this or any Dog so I haven`t done anything to get these dogs mad.

Also how come no one will kill the boars? often when your character is weak the best way of not getting killed by enimies is to lead them to were Soliders are or archers at the Archers guilde they will kill Thugs Orcs Trolls and even Snakes and Bees for you but for some reason no one will kill the Boars (which are quite deadly and persistent)

ow, that dog, yep it's all normal that he attacks you.

It was actually a bet at the Larians. They bet with Lar that they could put him in the game while he didn't know where or who, and that he wouldn't find himself in the game. It turned out to be the dog <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

LOL funny bet.

Still a bit sick that the Dogs attack shocking that it comes in so late too hey I am a dog lover so killing Dogs doesn`t sit well with me:)

Well as I keep telling ppl, this is a 'roleplaying' game you know, so maybe while you where not there the dog got infected with rabbies? In this case it would be mercifull to put it out of its misery.

All dogs ? Hm, if one dog is killed or attacked, then every dog throughout the game - wasn't there a kind ogf bug with cats or so ?

LOL yeah as it goes I had started thinking up crazed dog stories to help explain why the Dogs got so nasty and justify killing them:)

I am also going to see if I can lock them up in empty rooms:)

Yeah have been too Verdistis Don`t tell me the Cats go crazy to! haven`t noticed anything about the Cats there yet except there is a lot of them .

No had thought of that , that maybe I had accidently attacked a Dog at some point or gotten to close to one while in combat mode or even that they were programmed to attack if you ran past them to fast.

It seemed wierd to me that they would suddenly start attacking when before they were calm so made sure not to do any of the things mentioned above with the other characters I am getting through the game and made sure not to attack or threaten or annoy any dog in anyway.

But although so far its started with Dogs at different locations at some point they all started attacking.

I thought it might be related to what level you had reached or how much meat you were carrying or if it was related to some item you were carrying.

Seems weird that they just become enimies out of the blue like that rather than from the start also had wondered if it was simply a glitch .

Yeah someone mentioned that cats in Vestdis do something weird but haven`t seen any cats go crazy yet

My characters have been attacked,unprovoked by dogs and by cats. If you stop and talk to an NPC the attack will stop and the dog or cat will wander off. My character has never been attacked by rabbits, rats, chickens or pigs; nor have I ever been attacked by dogs or cats while playing DD.

the cats...i wanna know hy they want to kill me. I can understand the dogs in the farmland (protecting the cows and chickens) but the cats...i even went into the sewer, got some fish and threw it to the cats as a peace treaty. They didnt acept...

Never heard that cats mark their teritory with urine. When you kill a cat some of that urine get on you and all cats in the world react "bad to it". You shouldn't have killed a cat.

Dunno about that Cleglaw, I seem to remember an occasion when I was stuck into DD for about 4-5 hours and my cat virtually tried to scroll the skin of my shins, I had a momentary vision of being wanted by my cat, but that dissappered as soon as I paid attention to her, by saying "B*gger off I am busy" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I had the dog's thingy too. It's annoying, since the dogs and other friendly animals (exept from rats) gives an cozy feeling to the game.

When you visit Lanilor in the blue boar inn, dont´t go throug the kitchen. Instead take the way throug the pasture. Enter Lanilors room throug the backdoor. If you take this way the dog (Lar) won´t attack you. Do not kill the dog.

A similar thing happened to me actually.. I once accidently killed a kitten in Veredistis.. After that every time a cat went past me it would attack me.. (those stupid animals,dont they know that i am bigger and stronger <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )

That´s normal. Do you kill a cat or dog, the rest of them attack you.

Had it once..i started over again just because i didn't like kiling cats ( I like cats )

the dogs attack you becase once you've killed a wolf or a dog, somehow the rest of the k-9 world knows about it and all the dogs then become hostile.

Not the wolves, only dogs. There is a hostile dog in the Dwarven Village which starts all the problems.

killing butterflies is one of the most useless things in the game.......and yah thank goodness they don't attack.....it'd be annoying....
