So I am in Maradino's house at the bookcase where the "Book" is, the one that is needed to open the door to the next room...........Can't pick up the book. Click on it and it will not go into my inventory. I have tried this from 3 different saves and the it is the same.....Can't pick up the book. Anyone know of a fix for this? Is there a patch? I hope the answer is yes because without a fix I will not be able to proceed.

I can never pick it up either, but it usually has a 'gear' option to click on it to trigger the opening.

I don't get the gear option to show up. If I try to hover over the book it high lights the entire bookcase which is empty. So I am pretty much stuck.

I don't have a saved game there but I believe it's on the bookshelf slanted so you face it by looking "northwest" and it is on the right most shelf but the book is on the left side of that shelf.

Was this with today's patch or the previous one? I got it working with the previous patch and not today's patch.

Are you using the alt button to make sure it's the right one? Just seems weird that I went through without any issues but I remember the first time I went through I thought I was hitting the right book and I was not.

Facing the wall section that needs to be removed, the bookcase is directly to the left, on that wall (not the one in the corner, but the next one over (x:484 y:115).
You need to mouse over the specific book, on the middle shelf. There are 3 or 4 books on the far right side of the middle shelf; immediately to the left of that is a single book that is sticking out, tipped forward, which is the one you need to click on (essentially, the one not highlighted if you mouse over anywhere else on the bookcase).

I was stuck there, too. The difference is that in EE Edition you don`t need to pick damn book, just zoom and click it. And, voila, doors are open.
