Just a couple of quick questions. What does "passive" mean by a skill? Do I need to select it to advance in it? And

I am playing as a warrior, so can I (or how do I) use mana or mana potions?

Passive means that the skill is active at all times.

Yes, a warior can use a warrior just as well as a mage can. You use mana potions just like any other potion.

As a warrior you might not need to use mana potions to replenish mana unless you do some spellcasting. If you have the alchemy skill then mana potions can be mixed with haealth potions to create restoration potions which are superior to health potions -- they give you more healthas well as mana.
