I play in 2 locations (co-op)
was playing at location 2 today, quit game + shutdown comp at 630p
got to location 1 to find the game had stopped syncing saves to the steam cloud at 2p

how do I get those saves in the cloud so I can play at location 1?
turning comp back on, etc not a prob

thx

ps

I had assumed the game had stopped up sync'ing the new saves, but maybe it's a case of the comp I'm on now not getting these saves from the cloud.

anyway, what to do?

Try starting the game in location 2. Sometimes Steam doesn't start uploading immediately after exiting the game, and it might take starting it again to trigger the upload.
Either way, you can check in the load window if recent saves are marked as having been backed up to the cloud.

Check the game at location 1 to make sure cloud support wasn't disabled. You can check the globally setting (in the client click on the Steam menu and select Settings, and then Cloud) as well as for the game itself (in the library right click Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition and select Properties, then switch to the Updates tab and check the Steam Cloud section).

I had tried having my buddy start the game at location 2, but that didn't work.

since then it sync'd up + everything's fine now, though

Any other guesses? I was syncing between my laptop and my desktop with no problem for weeks. Then suddenly, my laptop shows all the most recent files, while my desktop shows "not backed up to cloud" icon for the last 10 or so saves, and no recent cloud saves. It's not seeing the files that have been saved to the cloud by the laptop. Since the desktop has a bunch of "not backed up to the cloud" icons, I'm assuming it's the problem.

I tried all of the steps you suggested, everything is set to sync everywhere, and both games claim to be synced and up to date.

Also, to reply to my own post, I just tried saving a game from my desktop, and it did not save to the cloud.

I even tried uninstalling and re-installing the game, and that didn't fix it, so I'm guessing there's a bad registry setting that doesn't get cleaned up on uninstall or something.

Very frustrating.

On the desktop, try disabling cloud saving for the game, start the EE and confirm the cloud icons are not shown, exit the game and Steam client, reboot, restart Steam, log in, enable cloud saving again for the game and try starting it.

Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and renaming the 'Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition' subfolder. That should get Steam to re-download the online version of the profile and all your saves. There is a copy of the profile and saves in the Steam install folder, as well, which may need to delete/move.
