Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - Enhanced Edition When can I expect summon skills to show up?

Curious, as I'm now lvl 7 and have yet to see a vendor with a summoning skill book, or a drop of one. I've cleared the lighthouse, the woods north of Cyseal up to the secluded beach (just outside the cave), and a good portion east of Cyseal, and not a single vendor has had a summoning skill. Reloading before hitting vendors doesn't seem to allow me to scum for different vendor inventory, either. Am I having crap luck, or did they hide all summons behind drops/world locations?

Vendors I'm checking:
2nd floor of inn (witchcraft)
Arhu (earth or fire)
Enchantress in market (air and water)
wandering undead on beach west of Cyseal (anything)
2nd floor of legion cook building (random)

Seems to be the vendors I expect *could* spawn a summon in their inventory.

The earth spider summon can show up in Arhu's inventory on level 9, at least (don't have a level 8 save handy to check).

don't know if it matters what difficulty you're playing, but on tactician co-op arhu has had spider just about my entire game, I'm p sure -- just hit lvl 10 when we quit yesterday.

no spoilers, but you will most likely be finding one of the summons books very shortly, anyway, unless that one's random + I got lucky

oh, also -- right outside arhu's place is some kind of sgt overseeing like 3 guys on a shooting range.
that guy has 1 random book you can check whenever you're up that way.

When I started my latest game on the XBox One, I made sure I customized both my characters and one of them I definitely gave the Summon Spider skill to. It's a ranger character, and it fits my playstyle to bring up Spidey and then keep at range. My arachnid takes care of the face-time while I plink away with arrows from a safe distance. It has definitely made a difference in my survivability in the early game.
