Hello Manu, I can tell you my experience if it's useful.
I finished the game in normal mode only, atm, and I think that in your party you will need:

-A very strong Warrior. You don't know how many monsters have been killed by Madora's claymore. Spend points in Strenght and Armor Mastery and some phisical resistence and you'll be fine.
-A powerful Mage. Boost Intelligence. Any weapon is good. Spells for crowd control are essentials (Freeze, Petrify etc...) and damage spells like Thunder Storm kill everything in sight.
-A skilled Ranger. I suggest to use Arrow, I don't hink the crossbow is better. A proper use of arrows to put conditions on enemies and enviroment is an advantage. Poison, Freezing, and Exposive arrows are useful also to set the ground on fire, burning enemies. Or you can freeze the ground making them fall (hits on fallen enemies deal more damage).

The fourth character can be what you prefer, but remember that someone must have a Teleport spell (sometimes you get stuck without it) and also the Rain spell is very useful to extinguish fire.
Be sure that everyone can Heal, as in many, many situations you can't rely on potions only. To heal you will need to learn three "level 1 healing spells". One is a warrior spell, another a ranger spell and last a water spell, if I remember correctly.

Hope this could help.
Have fun!

Last tip: I spent points learning Summoning spells for each character (but there are also summoning scrolls, if you want to spend points differently). It is very useful because you can double the strenght of your party. You can summon a minion for each party member, so you end up with 8 fighters instead of 4.

Hey Cabal, thanks for your reply, it has been useful! But what magic school are you putting on the mage? You take them all? Or use Jahan as Water/air?

I found very useful Water spells. You can block the way of enemies with Ice Wall, or gain some extra turns by freezing them. Occultism spells are great also, I forgot to tell you about Charm, a spell that makes enemies attack one each other. You can't Charm bosses, but it's really helpful.
Water and Occultism are great, imho.
Maybe you can teach Fire spells to the ranger, so you can set things on fire from the distance.

There are 2 things against fire on the ranger for me:

1) I can craft 1 gazillion fire arrows and they never miss...
2) It doesn't really suit the ranger "general lore"... But thanks nevertheless..

Back on what you suggested for the mage... I'm discussing in another thread the possibility of a two-wand witchcrafter. From what I've heard...it's viable. Water... there's already Jahan... wouldn't he suffice?

Presumably you are against hitting people with poison clouds or running them through with swords in real life too, but happy to do it in-game? You do understand that it is a game right?

Oh, I understand it's a game. But it is you who do not understand.

If I'm going to kill someone (who deserves it), I can choose whatever weapon I wish. There is nothing inherently evil in a sword. Witchcraft, however, is a different story.

It may be a game, but I still have standards.

So you believe in witchcraft?! Are there other fantasy RPG spells that you'd consider off limits, or just those labeled witchcraft in any particular game?
