So what are the reasons why this hasnt been announced to all our console loving DOS2 fans?

What key factors are the issue? Timeframe? Budget? Resources? Other?

Let us know, we longing to play DOS2 on Console!

Right now, we're focusing on Windows only. Additional platforms may be announced in the future.

Believe us, it's not that we're not interested in producing a version for Mac/Linux/Console, it's just that we want to get the gameplay and world fleshed out in all the detail that it needs first. Once we have the game fully worked out, we'll start looking at porting it to other platforms. That’s not something that’ll happen during the Kickstarter or indeed this year.

But - and it’s an important but - we do have most things in place to support several other platforms, since we are starting work from the Divinity: Original Sin- Enhanced Edition engine. We just don’t want to make any promises yet.

Still didnt answer the question, only said we dont know in detail what game we making so we dont know untill its completed if we will then port it to other platforms.

Either way looking on the history dosee came 1 year later so if it might happen i guess end of 2017 is an expected release date.

Not exactly, depending on the size of the game and what is promised. So far, there are a couple things holding the game from consoles:

First, one of the Kickstarter rewards was official mod support. Although this really wouldn't affect console players all that much, it is certainly a factor that could affect the sales. Although I do admit I love the Console controls for the Enhanced Edition, modding support for an already great game can end up being a major factor in the PC sales. Console Developers are kind of afraid of mods, because it's pretty easy to use mods to install hacks that can alter aspects of the consoles the Devs didn't intend. Long story short, Console Makers have a good reason to lob this from the console version.

Second, Larian is smart to start out with the PC version, because the end product might exceed what most consoles are capable of running. This is exactly what happened to XCOM 2. XCOM EU and EW both released for a non-PC platform well after release, but it was excusable for the time because console tech at the time was able to run the game without any major problems (and was one of the reasons Halo Wars was technically limited in scope, due to the Xbox 360's low CPU power compared to PC's). XCOM 2, however, is a massive game, and the scope was foreseen from the start. They didn't want to make a console release because they would be limited by the pre-determined hardware.
The same can be said here, so keep that in mind.

Finally... actually, I can't think of a whole lot else. The major limiting factor is just the limitations of the consoles themselves. People tend to think that the major consoles are the gaming platforms to play on, when they are absolutely destroyed by some of the master computers we see in the rooms of the most dedicated gamers. Just keep in mind that consoles have pre-determined hardware, and Larian is trying to do their hardest to make the best game possible.

I'm going to stop here. I've gone on long enough already

So what you also saying is that due to the fact that Larian does things first and then plan later we dont know if the console will handle the game due to limitations.

My view would be that, you plan first and then you execute the plan. I hope this is just external response and that there are amazing plans internally that are not shown public that might indicate go or no go for console.

Either way my wonder was what was the key factors that affects a go or no go for console.

The plan is to develop the game itself first and then consider other platforms. If it were just a case of possible hardware limitations with console versions, then OSX and Linux ports would not be an issue.

At the time of the D:OS 2 Kickstarter, the Enhanced Edition had not been released, so the response on consoles and Linux was unknown.

Btw Enhanced Edition on console is really good :) I am really happy to have it. Good job. Will be glad to buy Divinity Original Sin 2 if you decide to port it to ps4 after ~1-2 years :)

Enhanced Edition is my most-played Xbox One game, by far. Even got some of my "friends" to buy it, and they enjoyed it as well.

Hello,

Just a little bump to see if we can have some news and hope there ?

Also, if console port is done, can we hope to buy it at a lower price if we also kickstarted it ? I imagine an addon or similar thing as I know that a console download key isn't free for the publisher as well.

Thanks for your time and some of the best game I ever played.

They are going to decide on ports to other platforms after the game is fully released. But i think its save to asume that there will be a console version (unless it sells bad for some reason).

I dont think they will lower the price for the console version for people who already have the game on PC. They didnt do it for the Enhanced edition.

What is going on with DOS II on PS4 platform? Is there any possibility to release it this year?

Thanks in advance

There is no commitment for consoles yet, so it's to be determined whether it will be ported at all.

I hope that if/when Larian decides to port it to console, that they look into bringing mods to it too. We know it's within the realm of possibility as Bethesda did it.

It's a pretty big hassle for Bethesda to have mods on console, though, since tons of stuff isn't allowed that on PC you can do no problem. Just for one ; anything over a certain size.

I know but if Larian were willing to go through those hoops it would be a major benefit and selling point on console. However, I'd be perfectly happy without the mods the first original sin is my favourite game on console right now.
