What drivers are you using? Only the proprietary nvidia and AMD drivers are supported.

Check what version of OpenGL support the drivers have (the graphics card has hardware support for 4.5, at least).
glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"

There was an nvidia driver update a week ago (version: 367.27); it may be available now/soon through Kubuntu's updater.

Hopefully newer drivers improve OpenGL support, since the game requires 4.x.
