Forgetting the frustrating source temple puzzles, both outside and inside its walls, I wanted to vent my disappointment at the final boss fight.

My friend and I had been playing the game for over 60 hours by that point, and we found ourselves with 2 sudden allies, both of which we'd spent barely any time at all with.

The White Witch, fused with her sister, and a random man called Zandalor. I understand he's been in other games, but I hadn't seen him before. We'd heard of him in random dialogue, and were carrying his pants around for most of the game, but our problem was how he acted in the final boss fight.

He spent the entire battle casting haste on our characters, and hitting the White Witch in the face. We spent the entire battle trying to heal him and protect the Divine.

It felt like we were spinning plates. It wasn't fun at all!

It actually reached a point where the White Witch was a few hits from dying, and at the same time, so was the final boss.

I then teleported him away from her, and attacked the boss.

The other characters then did the same, and the boss was a line from dying.

Up steps Zandalor... who cast haste on my friend's character, fired a spell at the White Witch, and smacked the boss in the head... killing him.

After over 60 hours of playing and fighting and dying and reloading... a complete stranger, after being nothing put a thorn in our sides the entire fight, beat the final boss.

The game then suddenly drops us in to the final area of the game, and who is there celebrating with us? Zandalor!!!

I'm afraid we couldn't help ourselves... and created our own final boss battle.

Every ally we made during the game, every choice we'd made didn't matter anymore. People only moments prior, calling us heroes, attacked us after we dropped 60 meteors on top of Zandalor.

Ahru forced us out of the building, but we were determined. We killed Bairdtr, Jahan, Madora... everyone... everyone but Zandalor... of course. Doing so triggers an immediate game over.

It kind of ended in a funny way... but still, the last few hours derailed 60 hours of fun.

I really hope D:OR2 doesn't have a similar ending. I want the final fight to be the team I've been building for days and days, fighting the enemy I've been pushing towards. I don't want some stranger taking the glory and getting in my way.

Very disappointing for me frown

Ahah your story is awesome ^^

I hate Zandalor too!

I think, if that's even possible, that the best moment to kill him is inside the Original Garden.
After all, he's a filthy cheater.

You can play the final battle without Zandalor... just saying....

AI is bugged in many ways...
My char got knocked down + charmed in the fight just before the Witch, Zandalor removed knoked-back first, then rushed and attacked me...this guy is a champ.
The encounter just before the last fight was completely pointless btw, the witch was perfectly bugged and failed to spawn any minions each turn, doing nothing during the whole fight.
Final boss fight was aswell bit disappointing as you said, ended up by spending half the fight healing the damn witch that prefers to buff allies (fortify/heal) when she is at 5% HP... I don't mention the Dragon that obviously don't give a damn about LOS like many NPC, putting summoned creatures and our characters between her and the dragon has no effect at all.
Got this memorable fight against Cassandra before with this silly cat locked in his cage. The guy used all his spells hitting his cage, ridiculous but ended-up by combining water around the cage with electricity and stunned all the party...

Starting fights by throwing meteors clears 50% of the game encounters even before beginning them.

But I loved the game, will restart it in higher difficulty.

How much quicker would the void dragon have been if atstarte could be killed? Seriously how annoying is that? I turning her invisible but every time she cast a skill she becomes visible again.

Biggest complaint about final battle was its ease. I'm hardly the first person to observe this but just for clarity my partner and I play on Tactician mode and the battle unfolds like this:

See the box and approach and then wrap around behind it. Suddenly VOID DRAGON pops down on our heads *gasp*. We are ready for a big fight and we see him summon void spawn and hit Astarte with a range attack.

Now it's my friend's turn. He casts drain willpower and soulsap(scroll) and slow on the dragon. Then he casts Oath on my character and ends his turn. My turn I hit rage, power stance and use flurry. Void dragon dies..... wat?!?! Is this his first form? NOPE - Game over.

The highest difficulty setting with the strongest boss dies on the very first turn....Why did we even collect all these spells and gear? We had a huge stockpile of scrolls and potions with all sorts of contingency strategies ready to go. ONE ROUND?

I honestly loved the game as did many of my friends but the difficulty was a huge let down. I'm going to go ahead and feature request a HARD difficulty for DOS2 or if by any crazy miracle for DOS1. Give the enemies more AP and higher initiatives AND FOR THE LOVE OF SOURCE some more hit points. You should not design an end encounter that is so easy on your hardest difficulty. Doing so indicates that you either don't understand your own game (mechanics or limits). Have some humility and go to the community if you need help balancing, we can assist!

Anyways - more on topic but Zandalor and Icara fighting with us near the end was sort of interesting but should have been an option? (maybe it was but we missed it)
