So, I don't really know the vast lore in the entire Divinity series as I only played the first one through I think the 3rd act or so a long time ago, but I remember that we played as Source Hunters. I remember reading about the Order as ones who were devoted to eradicating Source and Sourcerers from the lands... Now this sounds really close to what the Magisters are trying to do on Fort Joy with their plans.

Is the Source Hunter Order we were a part of in the first Original Sin now the Magisters in the second one?

And a side question... Who are the Paladins supposed to be in the second one also? Or who are they associated with.

Magisters belong to the Divine Order, it seems they were created as an order that venerates the Divine or maybe even established by him. And since the Divine was goody-two-shoes savior of the world, that's their goal too. They believe that these Voidwoken in DOS2 are a great threat and so they imprison those who lure them - people with Source. But I'd say by turning Source wielding people into obedient zombies they went to far. The bishop seems blinded to his own evil deeds and that Dallis woman is too far gone too. So i guess they're the bad guys in DOS2.

Not much is known about the Source Hunters for now, but there's one from the ancient times of Braccus Rex called Withermoore. He's undead though. They may or may not have been Divine Order's predecessors.

Paladins could also belong to the Divine Order, but as it goes in big organizations one hand may not know what the other is doing.

"Source" isn't an inherently bad thing in the Divinity series. It was corrupted during the time of D:OS1 due to the situation with Astarte and the Void Dragon, but at some point after that it returned to its original, generally beneficial form. It's likely that the order of Source Hunters would have disbanded sometime thereafter.

However, the big bad guys in the setting have a tendency to mess with it in various ways when they show up. This was occurring during the time of Divine Divinity and appears to be happening again a short time later when D:OS2 begins.
