from the posts i've been reading, i think people are overestimating the power of strength. it only gives you +damage and lets you carry more stuff. agility gives you damage (less than str), accuracy and evasion. I would rather pump agility than strength. notice in the demo your slashing damage still goes up when you pump agility! unless this is a glitch, agil is way better than str. i'd rather do consistently less damage than be a powerhouse that can't hit anything

i say for melee:
-leave str at 1
-pump agil + con
-pump spd for init when needed
-pump surv for regen/luck when needed, but this stat doesn't look too important to me

mostly agiligt, constituion, with every 3rd level putting in 2 points in strength, 2 poitns in survival, 1 in luck.

The demo may be short, so that way it is harder to see the importance of Strength. Yes, unlike D&D, Strength is not the single over-whelming stat used in combat, but it has its uses.

First off, there are item with high Strength requirements. Not investing in Strength means all your defense has to come from stats/skills and you may not have access to a powerful weapon.

Second off, the ability to carry truckload of weapons, potions, quest items and other miscellanous objects is important for pack rat like me... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

lol. same. though with the DK I can split things apart. and with summoning dolls (all 6 of em) that means 8ading them up.

From the description, though, the strength and agility damage bonuses only apply to strength based and agility based weapons, respectively. Did you compare damage with and without the agility boost, so see if the damage actually went up, or if it was just shown as being higher in the inventory? Maybe weapons can be partly strength based and partly agility based? That would be more realistic, though harder to balance. I'll have to play with that tomorrow, maybe...

I don't know if you could let your strength on 1, if it is the same as in DD you will need strength to wield weapons.

i was able to wield all the demo weapons on 1 str. maybe in the actual game there will be str requirements on equipables. even then, i'd only pump str as necessary to use those. being a pack rat doesn't really help you kill stuff efficiently. besides, you can always leave stuff you intend to sell on the floor

A couple of the weapons Fergus dropped had a Strength requirement of 12 (reachable near the end of the demo). I also found a shield and gloves with a 12 or 16 Strength requirement.
