I am at the beginning point of divinity 1, love the game. The main irritation I hope has been corrected in 2 is at the end of a battle, with poison clouds and fire puddles everywhere, if I have forgotten to completely split my party everyone runs through the death puddles to get back to your controlled character, and that is annoying as hell.

Totally agree, sadly it's an integral problem of the control sheme used in the DOS games. I definately support new ideas, but sadly with some things Larian didn't have a way with...
The fact that even in non-turn mode players can't do things simultaneously or select multiple chars makes controlling a lot harder.
Wish they would change that. Sometimes renowned solutions don't need to be reinvented. I'd die to have a more convenient control sheme like BG, Wasteland 2 or so many others had.

I'd like to see an out-of-combat pause implemented, during which I can assign commands to my party, so I can avoid party death at combat's end (it would also help to initiate conversations with moving characters, particularly rats). I've had a few instances where end-of-combat caused my characters to move in a way that caused a multi-surface explosion that killed everyone. It's like "Congrats! You won the battle. BUT YOU LOSE THE GAME!"
