I just finished act 1 and I thought I'd post my thoughts.

I really like most of the changes from DOS1:EE. I thought playing it was fun for sure, but I think with the lack of fight difficulty I may have problems seeing the full game to completion if it doesn't really get more difficult. I had the same problem with the original, where I just didn't finish it because the fights were a cakewalk even on tactician.

Please add more enemies to the fights or give them more armor/vitality. I think the only fights that I had to even worry about were the corrosive frog fight and the Alexander/voidworm fight at the end.

Usually all the enemies were dead in one round and no one was hurt much on my side.

I lost more people to environment explosions (like mines) than to fights. Since there was no pause outside of combat I couldn't heal the mined guys quick enough before they burned to death.

Oh, and I was underwhelmed with the necromancer spells. Nothing I saw in them made me put any points into it. The old witch school was good. Maybe they get better spells after act 1. Hopefully.

Also, the keyboard binds would sometimes forget changes I made. The one I always had a problem with was when I wanted to clear "e" from inventory/character and apply it to rotation right. It would remember my rotation setting, but after going back into the game it would always re-apply "e" to also be on inventory again.

Instead of clearing the 'e' hotkey for Toggle Equipment, try changing it to something else (Ctrl-E or ALT-E, etc). That should prevent the missing hotkey from being 'fixed' the next time the game is started.

Hi Larian (Raze in this case),

To bring my general point of view, finishing act 1. What about :

Difficulty :
I agree with aarack but I suppose you will add more different lvl difficulty ?

Point source and Talent :
I had already given my point of view in specific topics. Just to insist on point source, it is one of the best idea of DOS 2, but i think you underestimate the power it could provide to your game : your game history is based on Source, you have to use it to make the difference.

Gameplay :
- I bring one of my friend on it, and he said it was complicated to understand everything at the beginning. And yeah thats true, if i hadnt play DOS 1, I would have been confused. Are you working on a tutorial at the beginning ? Is the black cat a tutoriel ? :O
- I saw you delete "sight" and "hearing" from DOS 1. I liked that caracteristics. It made the game more deep even if there was no really use for hearing.
- I dont really like the kind of puddle of healing after fight. But anyway its okay.
- I like memory, i need to see more of the game to give a feedback on it.
- Picking up object is a little bit too slow and not make it fluid.

Bugs and balance ? :
- In the cavern with fire slims, i found a lvl 8 two-handed mace (in a chest) dealing 144-160 dmg when i was lvl 3 (instead of my sword 20 - 25 dmg). Too easy to finish the game.
- I hadnt finished the quest gave by Gareth (you need to come back with a purging wand) : I sold all my wands, no paying attention to it was required, and when i saw it, i had already sold all of it. Anyway I decided to go near the ruins where Alexander was. All the Shriekers died in front of me, why ? dont know. i did nothing. Then i walked to the last fight, killed Alexander and the Voidwoken and click on the ship. Is this a normal ending for Act 1?
- I hadnt found the way to remove necrofire off pigs and the sorcerer in the vampire maze ? I passed over smthg ?
- When you pick a specific painting in Fort Joy at the top floor, in the room where are downstairs, there is a graphic bug.

Graphic :
TOP

Raze, i know you have a lot of work, but is it possible to made a list or a topic of known issues ? If you are able to give me more information i could help you more ^^.

Thank a lot guys. Keep working like that and this game should crush everything in video game community :p

There will be adjustments to the Explorer and Classic difficulty levels throughout the alpha/beta, and Tactical and Hardcore difficulty levels will be added at release.

There will be a tutorial added before getting to the beach at Fort Joy.

If you freed a dragon earlier, he can kill the shriekers; they shouldn't just die, though. There is another piece of equipment that can give Source Vampirism, or you can teleport past the shriekers.

It is possible to learn the Bless skill (in the illusionist's cave, "Madman's Enclave")

After the next update (going through QA currently; no ETA yet) I may start a topic for known issues.

Hi, just finished first chap: (Not good at english :$)
*Maps: The maps and disign were really good, i liked it and the constant Up/Down areas make it really good to place there some fights, although the fights wasnt really "challenging". Going on the " tresures " the hiding places where good, but it was REALLY easy to get the skill to find it, donno if thats part of the test
*Equip: I donno if its to test, but its insane the stats that equip gives to me, i didint even have to put my skillpoints sometimes cose i really capped them all with equip, using them just cose i wanted to get more memory or something else, not cose i would really need it
*Skillpoints: The way you " separate " the civil and combat skills i just loved it, you can make more variable chars getting 1 on full thief and other full bartending, not sacrificing skills in combat to reach it (although this may be the reason why in the "equip point" i didint use the skills in combat)
*Talk/Speach (This is something i woudl love to be improve): when im walking happily with my party at X place, if a giant monster appears and start talking with the party, they pick the one who its first spotted, and u cant choose to change between chars to START a dialoge, this makes for example, in the cave with the royal fire thing, that if she start talking my "not pet pal" char, she attacks.
*Fights: I really wanted more, i know its in alpha and i know the tactican mode is not realased yet, but just as aarazak said, really easy fights, even the last one, i think that frogs were the unique " challenge " (low lvl) this goes also to tactican mode in DOS: 1, and i think that the problem its not the " number of monsters " in mi opinion there r 2 ways of getting the fights harder: 1) By nerfing the spells, telep its really op i think ( 1 point, can move allies and foes, dmg and u can put chars on surfaces, one of the first skills in Airturge and cant miss) 2) By buffing hard the mobs, for example give lots of them fortify to avoid telep, makes everyone start with float + 100% X resistance, etc. i love the posibilities you give in this new DOS, but its booring to beat them so easy.

To resume: since i love the fights, i think its the same as DOS u start and u can feel a "challenge" but in lvl 5-6 fights starts to be booring

I don't remember exactly when you can get into the swamp, but the fights in there are pretty difficult for level 5-6 characters... unless you're playing in Explorer mode, in which case no difficulty whatsoever should be expected :P

personally i didnt feel it, maybe cose i play with telep X.x (3 of my 4 chars have it) since telep can also telep on diferent "levels" (i mean up and down, bad english :$) i just telep the mobs together and fullburst them with aoe or something like that, since telep also reduce physical armor, then the aoe Knockdown of the warrior stun them all and thats all D:
i think that telep is really OP, need to be nerf
(and no, i didint play on explorer xD)
