My vote for sacred. Really enjoyed the demo, and i plan to buy it - though after the major bugs that Alrik have told us about have been worked out.

This is a confusing place, and first head to the garden and talk to a wierd lady. She wants you to head back in time to plant a tree for her, and in doing so you can also weaken the guardians which are undefeatable at this point, allowing you to eventually get the second word of power.

Head to the sun dial and go back in time.

Thanks DATD. Unfortunately though I did speak to the weird lady and she gave me the crystal, it doesn't work on either sundial. Maybe the patch would help. I don't know. I didn't really encounter anything else that I thought was buggy.

The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

The spell affects are amazing although some of the summons could use alittle work.

There is unoficial patch, that upgrades your familiar, henchmen and summons. It makes them smarter, gives you more control over them. You can look into fam and hench inventory, give or equip them armor and weapons. This patch works excellently on spellcasters. You can tell your mage what spells to cast. I am playing with Wizard as my main and Buddy (sorcerer) as my hench. He can also cast familiar and summon. So, now we have party of 6
Enemies also became smarter.

If you are interested I can send details on this patch.

As for blockyness, disagree, graphics are just great. 3d - there is also some kind of patch that gives you absolute freedom to rotate (up and down included), I haven't tried it myself though, but people recommend.

As for quests, I am not far in the game, just started chapter 2 in main NWN camp. I would say quests are ok, not horrible, but not especially memorable either. I can live with that. There are rare games with large number of really good quests.
Spells animations are great.
Weapons and armor have great graphics, especially when I look into inv, maybe even best ever seen.
I agree with LBane, further polishing it (especially quests part) Bioware can reach very high ratings.

Alrik
I have played Gothic 2, I liked it. It has a lot of freedom and it is third person. But, still it is different experience from for example Morrowind. It is more linear. Graphics and sound very nicely done. The game has it's own atmosphere, and it's own world.
I recommend you to try it.

What about Gothic and Arx Fatalis ? Have you played them yet ? I can recommend Gothic, imho.

Gothics controls turned me off, and i never could get totally use to them. The mouse being unusable was ashame, because from what i did play of it i was impressed.I bought gothic 2 but havent gotten much into yet but i will be soon. The mouse is usable in the new one so im sure ill get alot of enjoyment out of it.

I have Arx to, played about halfway through it, and wasnt to impressed atleast compared to Morrowind and gothic it pales in comparison.

Right, you can use mouse and you can now reconfigure controls in G2. I think it was impossible in the first one.

Belive me, Lews, you're not THAT desperate to play that and probably not old enough to laugh of this.

It's basically a mod where you're a woman trying to "get" as many men as you can. You live in a castle, and by the end of the module you sleep with everyone, from the guard to the gardner.
The mod includes nudepatch and bouncymod.

I would have to say to go with Sacred and . or if you have a credit card, then get them all for the nest waiting period so that you have something to play.

About the controls in Gothic I : I was used to them, because I prefer they keyboard above it all. For mouse movementt you need a much higher dexterity than for the keyboard. I once played Forsaken and *very* soon swithched it off because I couldn't stand the controls. With Zanzarah I've learned it a bit more, but it was still quite hard. I wouldn't like an RPG that wouldn't allow the use of the keyboard at all ... okay, sinnce D2 and I got used to that, but I still don't like it as much as the keyboard.

If you played and liked first Gothic, you will enjoy G2.

G2 is still Gothic in a Gothic world but much more improved one.

Lews, Sacred forums. You should also be able to find the demo on that site.

Yes, these are the official English forums ... The official site for German, English and French is imho http://sacred-game.com Unfortunately this link only leads to the Ascaron-Page of Sacred.

The news tell of an "american official Sacred page", located here : http://www.sacredgame.net (Contains a link to a DEmo).

What I actually don't understand is that almost *every* country has its own cover ! I had thought ONE cover would be less work ?

Anyway, I'm niot that familiar with the English sections of Sacred ...

In several shops Sacred is clearly sold out.

About Gothic II : Gothic II Gold has arrived a few weeks ago here in Germany ...

I voted for the morrowind deluxe jobba as i got it and its great. Plus if you got the add ons individually it would cost more so you might as well get the lot (with eggs on top). i dont know anything about NWN but diablo's a laugh as well. Hey if your loaded get em' all.
