Caroline has requested I find her little boy. Found cave, saved, went inside - there is the "George killer" lookalike who wants to drink all the little boys blood and I cannot get into the cell to rescue him and the boy dies. I am only at level 10 - how do I rescue the boy, should I do it later, do I lockpick (I don't have that skill) or is there a key. Please help, didn't like explaining to the mother her boy was dead. Glad I saved game before going into cave. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />

To save the boy, you need to sacrifice yourself. It will not kill you, but will permanently remove some stat points (random, often 3 points). There are several items that can boost your stats or level, which more than make up for this, however.

You need Lockpick for the door, or Telekinesis for the lever (both level 2).

You can leave this quest until you are stronger, or are able to buy a couple Telekinesis spell books.

you have to sacrifice yourself to save the kid. you will not die, but make sure that you have a health potion on hand. he will take your life down to like 1. so heal before one of the bats kill you. then you can kill the vampire only if you have lockpick level 2 or telekanesis level 2. he is kind of hard to kill so i suggest a death scorpion.

He's really hard to hit all right, but I managed very early in the game using a bat of striking that had frost on it and a couple of minor potions of healing (for when the frost wore off and I didn't manage to hit him for a while).
That was before I ever found out about scorpions - and now I refuse to use them because, as others have stated, they distort play balance too much plus they are just so damn heavy to lug around.

I have yet to figure out how to use the scorpian traps. I assume I need some trap setting skill, but then what? Do I have to trap the scorpian, is there already one inside? Do you just set them on the ground and someone is killed if they happen to run into it? How does the whole thing work?

When you select the Deadly Gift skill, a menu will pop up displaying the traps you have in your inventory, so you can left click to choose which to use. After that, right clicking on the ground will set/release a trap and remove one from your inventory.

Also they will move around randomly, you cant control their movements unless you use the aura of command spell.
