If you let the vampire bite you, your reputation goes up and you loose a couple (random) stat points. There are several items that increase your stats or level in the game, which more than makes up for this, however.

Blake mentioned something about the frogs... try killing all 4 of them.

You don't need the key, I lockpicked my way in. However I think your skill needs to be quite high in this area, and looking back I wouldn't bother with the lockpick skill. In some games the lockpick skill is essential to get some of the best items, or even proceed in the game. However no essential items or quests require it, other than lockpicking 1 door for the theives guild, which only needs level 1 or 2 anyway.

Actually, after the 1.34 patch you can lockpick the Nericon Garden gate, though that may lead to a broken quest or missed experience points if you do so before getting the key. Before the patch, a few people lost the key, by using it on the cemetery gate. There is also a key to either gate in the potion dealer's house in Ars Magicana, though it is tricky to get into his back rooms.

Please, you've made your point. There's no need for the personal quips on the end. So they might have it confused with the graveyard. We've all done stupid things.

Not knowing what the area was (thought it was the graveyard) I lockpicked (lvl 5) my way in there and it didn't break the treasure cove nor the statue quest. Even later, when I asked Blake for the key (just to try him on) and told him about the Seekers for Truth he told me to bug out. If there are any other quests in the garden, then I didn't find out about them.

I believe there is a quest to get the key, received from the 3 people standing in front of the garden (may just be part of the main Nericon quest). Blake will not give you the key until after you have done one of the quests to get an invitation to the castle. I told him about the cult, and he just warned me to stay away from them.

here uis how you should do the quest.

NERICON'S GARDEN

Quest: Philosophy of life
Solution: You will meet three philosophers on the southern road to Nericon's Garden. They are followers of Nemris, the philosopher, and unable to worship the statue of their master in Nericon's Garden because the gate is locked. They will give you a book and ask you to retrieve the key from a merchant named Blake in Rivertown. Just go and get the key.

Quest: Nericon's garden
Solution: (See quest above) - This quest is added to your journal after you've bought the key to Nericon's Garden from the merchant Blake in Rivertown. He tells you there is a myth about a treasure being hidden in Nericon's Garden. He also mentions something about frogs...
Enter Nericon's garden with the key from Blake. Take a few minutes to read the book the followers of Nemris gave you. Then approach the statue and answer the questions. You will only get one chance to answer the questions correctly so save or make sure you've really carefully read the book . If you have given the correct answers you will be awarded one skill point in 'Restoration'.
Time to investigate on the frog and treasure part of the story. There is a lake in the center of the garden and there are frogs in it. There's obviously not much else to do except for killing the frogs. Do that. Kill all of them (four in total) and a portal is going to appear. It leads to the treasure.

Is there any point in keeping the book after finishing that quest? I'm still lugging it around.

Thank you!! There's nothing I hate worse using something for a quest, getting rid of it, then discovering at the end it's the only thing that will help you win the game! As a result, I'm either always overburdened, or I have a large pile of stuff sitting next to a transporter somewhere.

Heh, when I played Diablo, I used to just throw all my stuff on the ground next to the well in town, and it was always there. Tried that with Diablo 2...reloaded and it was all gone. Since then, my brain does a little freakout dance whenever I leave something lying around. Hence, Nynaeve has spent quite a bit of time saying "I have too much to carry. I must drop something!".

The house to the S of the market place seems unoccupied (not the good doctor's, but the other one). It has a wardrobe in the living room and a chest in the bedroom which I found to make an excellent warehouse since I teleport back to Ars
Magicana all the time to trade with Geoff and Kris and Blake (hoping to pick up yet another spellbook f'r instance, and selling my loot).
