I just got out of the catcombs and poor george has been taken down a peg or two
First off, everytime I opened teh chest even after reloads the only thing I got was the apprentice cudgel.
After talking to everyone in town I still have no idea on how to make some one confess or whatever it is that you are supposed to do...
Any help would be appreciated

One more thing
is it wortwhile to put more points into assassin's kiss? meaning in later levels are there worthwhile weapons with this skill available because right now after beating the catacombs Im using Noble Dagger or something like that and it takes from 5-9 hits to kill an orc

As he said you will have to wait a very long while in the game to solve georges murder.
If you want a spoiler map, let us know.
And, having never played a thief, i can not comment on that skill.

I can only think of 2 potentially good daggers consistently in the game, though with random drops and merchant inventories you may have better luck. Even with Assassin's Kiss maxed, though, there are swords readily available which will do more damage. If you want a pure survivor you can stick to daggers, but if you have a more practical style, you might want to switch to a sword.
BTW, if you put a skill point into Sword Expertise or Augment Damage (the starting skills for a male warrior), the first time you save and re-load they will be at level 2.

George's murderer live at the south-east - do you mean the vampire? But even after I killed him, the quest still remains. Or is there something else I need to do?

If you went through all the speech options with the vampire, you should be able to report back to Mardaneus to complete the quest.

Some people have had trouble doing this if Mardaneus was in the council hall, and refusing to get George the Drudanae herb at the start of the game breaks the murder quest, even if you later bring him some. If that is the case, there is a fix;

If you fancy using daggers as thief or mage charakter, assassin's kiss won't help much, but poison weapon is highly effective, and as such much more worth developping.
