Hey all, I just got my game from the Game Traders here in Aus and I started playing it two days ago and I ran into this huge...err..."bug"...probably not a bug but it certainly makes the game irritating. (I've got 1.34 patch)

I't about the switching weapon thingy, i assigned hotkey to one weapon and another hotkey to another (1 to dagger 1 to a composite bow) but no matter how hard i try, it don't seem to be working, not unless i take off the current weapon by pressing "B" and then press the hot key.

Is there anything I need to do? Or did i do something wrong?

Also, occasionally, i get this random very high-pitched noise (like those 1s you get from corrupted MP3 files) is there anything i can do to fix it? I'm not sure whether it might be a corrupted installation...but since this is a 2nd hand CD....

Thanks all

BTW, Is meteorstrike anygood? cuz i put 1 skill pt into it cuz i didn't know that the bows don't need arrow and i was in dire need for ranged weapon.

I can assign hotkeys to weapons (bow/dagger/sword) and swap back and forth as expected.

For the sound problem, try running dxdiag, switching to the sound tab and turning the hardware sound acceleration down a notch.
Do you have the latest drivers for your sound card?

There is a file verification method described in;
Troubleshooting Tips (& manual install procedure)

Meteorstrike can be cast repeatedly very fast, and has a stunning effect, so yes it is good. For a warrior I wouldn't put points into Intelligence to get mana, but rely on equipment bonuses or use more Restoration potions.

I've never switched weapons using hotkeys. I left click on the weapon on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen which opens up a menu of weapons to chose from. Strangely enough, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't; then suddenly it comes right.
One distinct impression I have is, it only seems to work if I am a certain minimum distance away from the nearest enemy - otherwise I have to do it though the equipment screen and backpack.

cheers, -Peter

How did you assign the hotkeys? Also, the hotkey is removed if you ever drop the weapon.

Thanks people, it's been a while since I've seen such warm hospitality on a forum. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Well, the switching weapon problem is solved, there seemed to be no distinct cause nor solution, before it plays a sound of equipping weapon but nothing has changed, and now it suddenly worked. I did check the hot keys and stuff, and now the problem suddenly disappeared.

The sound thingy, it dowsn't seem to happen all that often, but it happend occasionally. It last happened when I met the dragon rider who was killed by the wizard and when the wizard casts the spell and the "skull" animation shows, the sound glitch happened, but lasting merely a second. I have no clue about what could have happened and according to the installation/uninstallation guide, my files seemed to be fine. I'll try the other solutions when I find a consistant place where the problem will definately occur....

Cheers! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
