So I am trying to theorycraft a party. Would love your thoughts/suggestions.

ATM, to me necromancer seems a little week for present content/beginning areas. So based on current content, I would take:

Starting character: Ifan with Summoning and Pyro (Pyro seems super strong in beginning....specifically searing daggers) and make him a pure caster. Int and memory

Take companions:
1) Red Prince with Warfare and Polymorph (as both seem heavily front line focused) two hander for big damage. Strength & Const.
2) Sebille with Hunstman and Hydrosophist (backline healer and damage dealer, possibly 1 point in scoundrel for early use of adrenaline) bow/xbow character. Finesse & Wits
3) Lohse with Aero and Geo (may add Necro later) pure caster. Int & memory.

But I feel totems = super weak.

Edit: moved topic here from general.

The game allows you to play the way you want

My suggestion would be

1) Red Prince is a Lizard which as +2 INT, therefor you'd want a Wizard which makes use of the INT.
(Eventually learn aerothurge, hydrosophist)

2) Sebile has Flesh Sacrifice which is perfect for an assassin, what she is. This team up well with Polymorph because you can eventually kill anything using Flesh Sacrifice, Backstab, Throwing Dagger, Adrenaline, Steel something in polymorph which remove all cooldown, then flesh sacrifice, throw dagger again, hit in the back, Adrenaline again, hit in the back until 1 AP and use invisibility, teleport or backstab again.
(Eventually learn Huntsman for first aid, necromancer, go all in on dual wield)

3) Lohse i like her as an enchanter which she is because you'll also need the defense magic
(Eventually learn pyromancer, geomancer, summoning)

4) Ifan, i usualy convert him to Warfar and Polymorph for him to be a tank
(Eventually learn Huntsman for first aid and Geomancer for armor)

So 2 mages, 1 warrior, 1 assassin...
points spent across memory, wits and their main attribute

This is just a guideline, i don't play with an archer...really up to you to decide where to go with your team

Great pointers...thanks.
1 thing though. I think Sebille doesn't need Hunstman to get First Aid...she can get it through eating a body part (afaik, you don't need to learn the skill tree to use body part skills).

Maybe, I don't know, since the last patch, I've never learned anything from eating body part...

You could have a go at theorycrafting done here, because you have one section which can be good when the game releases.

What I would do for a 4 man squad

Red Prince with Fighter preset - get points into Hydro, Poly and Aero (this exact order). Also I would put a staff on this guy
Ifan with Knight preset - get points into Scoundrel for Adrenaline Rush, Walk in Shadow and Cloak and Dagger - improvise from here
Sebile with Huntsman preset - get points into huntsman, geo and pyro
Loshe with Inquisitor preset - give her a one handed weapon and shield and the oportunist talent and she will be your best tank

Now then if the starting character is Ifan, ditch Rage for Adrenaline Rush and the +1 in two handed for a point in Scoundrel and don't forget to change the Oportunist talent with the Executioner one, but if your starting character is the Red Prince ditch warfare for poly (bull rush,so you can charge with wand and shield) and when you level up you can ditch aero as I previously recomended and go pyro. If Loshe is your starting character, ditch telekinesis for leadership and Executioner for Oportunist, then get Comeback Kid at lvl 4.
