I have divinity OS 2 on gog, and a friend wants to get it but on steam. Can we still play together or will we have to do the direct ip connection? can we try and get across platform or cross system co-op ie steam and gog!

I bought it on GoG and my friend has it on Steam and it worked fine. We use the direct connect function where I just paste the code she sends me and everything has worked without issue from there.

The GoG version doesn't have a server browser or global chat for me, but I believe you can get that working if you use the GoG launcher. I haven't tried.

You can play together using Direct Connection (using an IP address or Server ID [that the host can get in the Connectivity Menu {hit Esc to bring up the menu in character creation or in-game}]), or LAN (though if not on the same local network, that would require the use of VPN software, such as Hamachi or Tunngle).

I believe Galaxy can support connecting to Steam's lobby system, but I do not know if that is planned for D:OS 2.
Galaxy is required for the lobby/invite function with the GOG version.
