SPOILERS BE WARNED

First time I played rolled with a rogue but this time around went for Metamorph since the spells intrigued me. Sadly, never could find any more of the spells, but I pretty much was the off-tank, not a huge amount of damage, but good buffer and such.

I admit the variety of classes and build promises a lot of replayability no doubt about it.

I love the new beginning and really thinks it adds so much to have these introductions early on. I admittedly rushed through it, but I imagine you could possibly gain a level or two in that area if you tried. Not completely sure. The new starting area was incredibly cinematic and built up the oppressive atmosphere far more than Fort Joy did, so major kudos there.

Then on to Fort Joy, I found Red Prince first, oh btw I was playing Lohse. I found out that he could go any class now, whereas before he was stuck as a fighter I believe. I like this change, really allows you to experiment with your party composition. I approve of this.

The maps changing slightly was at first rather disorientating, but once I knew where everything was again, it became much easier.

Once out of Fort Joy, I had not done the fight with Ovivand or Flescher yet, as they were difficult, and I was still level 4. I instead did fights in the swamp. Levelling was the most difficult part because you need to find the fights you can handle. That was most difficult, but once you figure out where the fights are, it's less difficult certainly.

On Fort Joy, did all content except Gargoyle Labrinyth and never got a blessing from Braccus Rex shrine. The final fight was always a challenge, but I found a solution for myself, teleport Alexander outside the area so the magic users and bowmen can't go after you. The fight felt less unforgiving and the adds in that fight handled the worm while I went after Alexander, the rogue ect.

Overall, the first part went relatively well and though Fort Joy changed the map quite a lot especially in the swamp and it was disorientating I got used to it. Still, that map change was the most cumbersome thing I found. Also some of the fights had vanished strangely.

The puzzle involving the ship loved this, really required people to use their noggin.

The impossible battle with Tallis, great cinematically especially as to what it was building too. The massive reveal. The Gods are trapped, and the voice in Lohse head does not want me to free them or help them. I am massively intrigued by this and getting major Pillars of Eternity vibes.

In conclusion really loving the game so far and loving the presentation of it. I was so engrossed I spent a whole day playing it when I woke up. Which shows that it really is worth it. Glad I supported it and glad the difficulty in classical was scaled more fairly and your party has much better pathfinding now, fortunately.

I never left Fort Joy in my plays and never got more than level 3, so I cannot say much.

In my experience, if you do the ship, the two voidworms at the beach, ask the Red Prince (I always part after it but you get nearly 2000 xp) and fight the sceleton, you get to level 2 before entering Fort Joy.
