I'm sorry, but this is the dumbest thing I've ever encountered in this game. Is this in EE only? I haven't played Classic in a while. This is excruciatingly frustrating.
I just spent an hour crafting, enchanting and dying gear, and I equip my weresheep helmet and its FRRICKING GREEN now. And I can't go back and change it to another color because the EE doesn't allow you to dye helmets ---- YET FOR SOME REASON IT CHANGES THE COLOR OF A HELMET WHEN YOU ENCHANT IT WITH SOMETHING. WHAT THE EFF IS THAT!?!?!?!?!?????????????????
This is so stupid. It's the only helmet I actually wanted to view 100% of the time too because of how bad-ass it looked before I added sneak and res to it, now it's aesthetically stupid looking because the horns are blood-red tipped and the helmet is green.
WHAT THE HELL, LARIAN.

I basically have to waste a bunch of essences in order to randomly hope that it changes back to regular color or something black-ish..... this is ridiculous

Actually, essences don't even randomize the colors. It's always the same color depending on essence. Just verified this. And shadow essence is green display color, not black? WHAT!?????? why is an earth essence green but changes color of item to orange???????? Guess I'm stuck with Red (fire essence) even tohugh I WANTED IT BLACK LIKE IT COMES..... this is so annoying.

I must admit I'm slightly traumatised on your behalf: green and red is a hideous combination. Okay, it's kind of tolerable at Christmas, probably because of all the chocolate and alcohol, but it's aesthetically quite jarring.
Hopefully it's the sort of thing that can be modded into submission, though personally I'm afraid I've no idea where I'd even start.

It seems pretty ridiculous that i'd have to mod the game to add support to dye helmets given that you can dye literally every other piece of armor in the game.
If my memory serves, Classic had a substantially higher number of dye colors to choose from at the vendors as well...

Also something I just got trolled with really bad is that I just bought a helmet upgrade from a vendor for a different character.... and apparently a leather mask doesn't qualify as a leather helmet, even though it's specified as a helmet and is made of leather and has a DEX requirement.... I can't add any enchantments to it. Sometimes this game infuriates me to no end.
So stupid.

Sold it back to the vendor. Cut my losses. At least I'm near end-game and have like 250k to waste. And hey I won't have to worry about the helmet CHANGING COLOR WHEN I ENCHANT IT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO CHANGE IT BACK.
