Maybe this has been discussed already but I would suggest an "Easy mode" be added if possible for people who are less skilled or new to this type of game.

Or as a stress reducer, say for example you had a hard day at the office and don't want use what little brainpower you have left on every fight.

We would have the option of have multiple toons, some classic mode some easy. This adds versatility for the player depending how they want to spend their time.
Just a thought.

Explorer mode is easy mode.

Are you suggesting a mode even easier than explorer?

Explorer mode is meant to be the easy mode. The full release's adding a new difficulty tier (Tactician) above Classic and a variant of the said mode with only one save file. I doubt they're planning on adding a lower difficulty setting.

Yeah the reason they don't call it easy mode is because there is a growing number of consumers who consider "easy mode" to be an insult.

So most games don't call it easy they call it... Story mode, explorer mode, or they call it normal mode.

But it is interesting how this is causing some confusion with people who would genuinely need such a mode.

Nothing wrong with easy mode, it's not an insult. Rofl people these days get salty over nothing.

Quite. I generally play the Divinity games on "easy" though I have to say that Larian's idea of easy seems to be my experience of regular difficulty elsewhere. Anyway, yeah, I have my own approach to RPGs and don't really care that my combat and tactics aren't especially awesome: they're not the be all and end all...

I hope they'll make some tier over tactician, like a superhardcore legendary tier that requires an hour of planning before each fight, squeezing every single exp point and using all the resource, pain and suffer and epicness.

Well given this game is less... Breakable than the first game...

Tactition mode should be a LOT harder in this than in the first game.

Heck Classic mode seems harder than tactition mode in the first game :P

Mmh well, at the moment is quite breakable, there are some lame tactics (sneak/stealth abuse, skill/situation that mess up enemy aggro, pathfinding abuse) and some op stuff (poly-rogue wombo combo) that made classic mode not so hard, even in solo mode without lone wolf.
I think many thing will be balanced at release, anyway i hope for a difficult tier really challenging, even for a min-max player.

Hahaha.

On the Easy mode topic, it is true that games now try to not shove in the player's face, easy mode nor even hard mode.

Most players will choose normal simply because the majority think they should be good enough to play the game as it is meant to be (playing in easy doesn't always make you feel you experience the game as it should) and they don't always think they are good enough or spend enough time to play in hard mode.

The worst case if the game telling you: "Hey you died, do you want to try again in EASY". Implying you are clearly not good enough. Pretty insulting.

The worst part of the difficulty level is you don't even know what difficulty level you want unless you already know the game so what will a new player choose ? Most of the time Normal mode but that's not always the good choice.

I think the player should be asked the difficulty after having played a bit to have a sense of the game. Or have an option to have a trial ground.

I lime your idea of a trial ground. In particular, it would be good for new players to be taken through the importance of ground status (blood, water etc.) as this is not significant in many games. An extra option might be to try different level settings of the same battlet get a feel for the demands of the different levels.

I don't know why it is not possible to change the difficulty during the campaign. Is it hard to program because of so many multipliers and factors to be changed?

Or is it artificial elitism? A real guy never flinches? Some difficulty settings are just a bit ...pfffff..., like not being able to save normally in Fallout 4 survival mode. Maybe you know what I think about Honour mode. It should be named differently.

I like immersion (which is sometimes connected to having a hard time) and a challenge but maybe it should be possible to adapt midgame (maybe after the third lost trial of a fight)?

Because difficulty in D:OS does not mean, a few stats are lowered, enlarged, like they like it to do in Brawlern.

Pretty much every fight getts overhauled and refitted to make the fight easier (Explorer) or harder (Tactician).
