Ok, so didn't have a TON of time to play (3-4 hours), but here is my feedback from that.

1. Did the quantity of starting attributes get reduced? It feels like my characters had less when I started the game than when I played the EA. I could be wrong, just felt that way.

2. Less control over origins characters. I was a little irritated that I couldn't pick their initial skill and attribute distribution. I know I could do that in the EA, and instead, they decided to level themselves for the levels before recruiting them. So, instead of Sebille having 2 points in thievery like I wanted when I told her I needed a rogue... she had 2 points in sneaking... which I really didn't want her to have. I wanted her to have 3 points in thievery by level 4, and now she will only have 1, which isn't enough to do anything.

3. Books. Christ almighty, they are so much more expensive now. Don't dig that. I literally don't have enough money to afford the skills I need to do better in/survive combat. And because stupid Sebille decided to put her points in sneaking... I can't steal those books for a while either.

4. The voice acting. I didn't care whether it was in or not, but it is good.

5.) Happy that the environmental effects seem to have been scaled back. They seem much more reasonable in both duration and scope.

6. Retaliation/retribution got nerfed? I think that they only increment by 5% now, which is fairly negligible.

7. More difficult to find hidden stuff? Things which I found readily the first time, seem to be much more difficult this time around, though I will invest more in wits and see... or not wink

That's all I can think of right now- round 2 time!

Have presets and talent selection been improved over ea version at all, or is it all the same?

I've heard that the Contamination skill has been removed from presets, and there are some new talents, so they have done something... but my download hasn't finished so I don't know specifics.

Mmm, at least something then. That and they removed the need to take a backstabb talent for scoundrels, which was your suggestion. Hopefully they added atleast one pure fighter preset too.

Dont like the origin companions leveling themselves up. If they were completely independent for the whole game i could understand it since that would mean story takes precedence, but since you get to control their leveling after you recruit them i dont see much point in this.

Yeah, some presets have changed abilities, notably the fighter, who instead of Contaminate has Bouncing Shield. Rangers get some new abilities too, but lose out on Marksman's Fang. (In fact, I haven't found Marksman's Fang yet, but I've just barely escaped Fort Joy)

Excellent.

And Marksman fang was not a good early choice anyway.

Btw, i guess magic and physical armor mechanics remained the same?

I haven't noticed any specific changes regarding the armor system, no.

Eh... really a shame. Much better things could have been done with it even at relatively low development cost.
Too many other features, full voiceovers nobody will listen to, etc, etc...

modders will fix it. maybe.

I totally love the voice acting, and some of them sound familiar to me. I consider a game good in my book if I play for an hour and it feels like I only played for 10 minutes.

As a follow up, after having played some more... skill books and inventory in general seem pretty overpriced. I'm level 4 now and don't have jack. I haven't bought anything of significance besides a few (and I mean 2-3) skillbooks... I literally don't have shoes on. I have been careful with resources and crafted what I could... but basically broke. The only good equipment I have is stuff which I have found... not happy about this.
When I played the EA, I never had this problem. I feel like the loot drops have been reduced and the prices have increased...

You don't need shoes, going barefoot is much more healthy. My main does it all the time. wave You're right, you find a bit less stuff in my opinion, but it's ok, at least on Classic.

I don't like the auto-leveling of the companions, as said. Why did they change it? Leads to a big waste of points. I hope the mysterious respecc possibility after Act 1 is in the game.

There is a hefty change in visuals partly. Elves lost the plant-cloth appearance except for the low stats clothing. Don't like it but I bet many do.

Prices you have to see in relation. I got the feeling that you also get a lot more money from selling stuff. By and large a bit increase in costs is ok. In the EA you was equipped too well after about level 4.

The change to attributes and combat abilities, especially Warfare and Aerotheurge, I like. Makes it easier to organize and armor more precious. And it auto-balances Polymorph.

The new Ranger skills seem strange to me. I have to get used to.

I think it's increased on both sides. I definitely feel like all of my gear is selling for way more than it was previously. Low level unique weapons sell from between 100-500 gold in my experience
