Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems Application failed to create the rendering device.

I purchased and installed divinity 2 yesterday through steam. I finished the download and attempted to launch the game and get the following error:

I am fairly comfortable working with technology and this one has me stumped..

What I have tried:
Reinstalling graphics card drivers
Reinstalling direct x
Reinstalling divinity 2

I am have no issues with any other game through steam that are equally graphic demanding.

Any assistance is appreciated.

bump still no solution... I've tried pulling my gfx card and replacing it, tried downloading on gog, short of formatting pc I'm not sure what else to try.
