Hey guys, pretty envious of all who have had the chance to dive into this already! Just had a quick question: I was meaning to play this on a tough difficulty setting but have heard mixed reports about Tactician Mode leaning toward "cheap" difficulty (hp bloat, defense bloat) versus re-arranged encounters. Is this true? Does tactician do nothing to enemy placement? Is it also true that it bloats HO/defense?

Either way, absolutely can't wait to get home and experience this!

So far in Act 1, Fort joy battle had no changes except enemies just having extra stat as mentioned.

They do have some neat trick hidden in though like turtle exploding on death where it will either punish you or you can abuse it with teleport to kill the other turtles.

But if you plan on diving into Tactician mode like I am doing right now, you better look up on whatever has changed in the game from the past day of experience. You won't enjoy going into tactician mode and getting gipped while dealing bad damage.

I played Tactician pretty extensively last night and I was extremely annoyed at the amount of savescumming I had to do because of lucky enemy rolls resulting in a near-unavoidable wipe.

I'm 100% fine with a difficulty level that defeats me through intelligence and tactical options, but stat bloat is just irritating. It makes you feel like your attacks are all weak unless you eschew all of your particular character preferences to favor whatever meta is currently touted by the number-crunchers.

In short, Classical is slightly too easy but Tactical is heavy-handedly unbalanced unless you really, really push towards meta play and stacked, nonfluid encounters.

I'm not interested in min maxing whatsoever. Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully that won't make classic too easy. Still got 4 more hours to go!
