I clicked to add a new terrain, like I did in Divinity Engine 1 editor and set the width and height of the new terrain to 256 x 256. It asked me to select a terrain material, so I selected "TR_Base_RockSlate_A_Grass_A_PBR" and it went "Not Responding" and then just stayed like that.
Did I do something wrong?
GMAddon1: Adds almost every single monster and NPC from the main campaign into GM mode, plus a few large custom maps to use in GM mode.
A 1x1 terrain patch is already quite big since DOS EE (I think 128mx128m in DOS EE, not sure about DOS2). So 256x256 is probably gigantic. Try starting with a 1x1 to get a feeling of how big a patch is, and then scale accordingly. My guess is that you're running out of memory.
I think the root of the problem is needing to "open the level for editing". I don't know how to do this. Can soemone tell me how to open the level for editing?

Thank you. That makes more sense.

If you're still having issues and could upload a screenshot of the problem that may help. I wasn't exactly sure where things were taking a wrong turn for you. Also, terrain editing is similar enough to DOS that any tutorials from that will still be helpful here.
