Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Help/Tips/Tricks Need Help with Main Character Choice

Hello! I could need some help with my character. I don't know if i should start with an origin character or a custom one. Can someone give me some pros and cons of doing either? What will i miss if i Play a custom on or vice versa? When i play games i usually want to see everything and if i play an origin one, he obviously wont be in the game right? So I won't be able to talk to him, have relationsship with em and i won't hear their voice dialogues? Is that right that only the dialouge of Chat Partners is voiced? If i have figured out correctly the character that starts the dialogue which u pick the text for wont be voiced, is that always the case or only for the custom voices?

For picking an origin character (from my limited experience of ACT 1)

Pros
You get a party full of back stories, custom events and special dialogue. If you choose a main custom character, you still get a lot of this by picking up origin characters to join you.

Cons
If you don't like the style/bonuses of the origin then you can customise your own character completely. They will still form relationships, and be more of a factor of their tags. I chose this option and am loving it (I weave my own story/character through the options etc).

It really doesn't matter so much - choose something you will enjoy!

Considering you'll have three other companions to join you, it doesn't really matter. What I usually do is create all 4 characters at once, some might be Origin story and some may not. To do this, follow this guide:

And yes, you can still hear voice lines from your MC (and all of them, if you hand-crafted the companions). My currently party is composed of The Red Prince, Beast, Ifan ben-Mezd and a custom Elf.
