The black cat managed to follow me down the hatch by the Lucian statue but has now decided it doesn't want to come up, which is probably fair considering the number of times it ran through poison/got exploded by AoE/etc etc... I was hoping that I'd be able to finish its quest line though, whatever it is, but I doubt that its quest continues in the prison, help?

I assume fast travel does not warp him as well?

If it's a pathfinding issue maybe try teleporting him to a new position?

Had the same issue. Just continue through the door in the middle up to Fort Joy. Most ways to leave the prison part are there anyway and your ultimate goal for the cat is to get it yout into the swamps without dying.
