One has spent 15 skillpoints to become a master in two-handed slashing weapons but decides to unlearn that and recover the skillpoints to learn to use a spear instead.

What exactly are the costs of doing so, if at all possible ?

It is going to be possible in Beyond Divinity, and the cost will be money, depending on how high your level is. I think Raze knows the exact figures, but it's about 300 at level 2, 500 at level 3 etc... I think it goes up exponentially somehow, so that once you're at level 50, one skillpoint will cost you a few hundred thousand gold. But I could be wrong ofcourse.

You are correct. It depends on your character level how much it costs to unlearn a skill, increasing as the square of the level, and is independent of how many skill points you put into it. If you select a skill and click on the 'unlearn' icon, it will pop up a message saying how much gold it would take to do so.

Cost = (200 / 3) * L^2 [color:"#3A495A"].......(rounded down, if necessary)

Level [color:"#3A495A"]02 = 266 gold [color:"#3A495A"]0
Level [color:"#3A495A"]03 = 600
Level [color:"#3A495A"]04 = 1066
Level 30 = 60,000 (?)[color:"#3A495A"]...... (assuming the same pattern holds)
Level 51 = 173,400 (?)

This is based on just 3 levels (only got to level 4 in the demo), so there could be a cap at some point, or it could go up faster at higher levels. Also, this is subject to change in the full game.

thats a good way to make the once hardly used gold be a factor to the game. once your level is up so high gold wasnt even a factor in divine divinity, now it seems it will actually be something worth hanging on to

Not a reason to be greedy, though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

WHAT? You need a reason to be greedy, I don't need a reason, I just am.
