We spent a lot of time and a lot of tweaking only to get much of what we learned nerfed. The leveling part of playing an elf was having to have enough memory slots; now one has to put points into the classes. Much of the skills require more action points. And the really "fun" part is the frustration of the enemy NOT being held to the same issue. For example: there was electric stunning on the ground. Every time we moved, we got stunned but the gators got to move freely and went to town hitting us. I get the parity part between classes but there should also be parity between enemies and heroes. Everything we learned now no longer holds. What was the point of buying the game if the game changed so drastically?

And exactly what reward did pregame purchasers get? At the very least, we should have been able to carry on our characters (with equipment and armor and skills) that we worked so hard attaining.

Again, this is like playing a new game which perhaps wouldn't have been so disappointing if we hadn't had so many months and so many characters playing a game we learned to play.

So the gators still had magic armor but you had not? Except if they had stun immunity, same rules tend to apply to them.

No one promised any reward for buying the game early.

It was well known and explicitly stated that no characters from the beta would carry over. If carrying characters from beta to full version was a deal-breaker, you should have asked before installing and we would have told you that wasn't going to happen. There were so many changes to the game that it was simply impossible to do. It's not to punish people who bought the game early, it's a reality of playing alpha versions.

No we look for magic/physical armor. They had none left. As I said as long as the SAME rules apply, I have no problem. Each time we played, we LEARNED from our opponents; that's what made this fun and exciting. But there is nothing to learn from opponents that show no reason for their ability to attack while you are stuck.

Yes, it was stated that there would be no rewards or taking of previous characters to the finished game. Which is fine except we got almost a whole different game. So many of the rules were changed making this a game that all our time tweaking and learning from useless. There should have been SOMETHING for those who supported this game from the get go. If they had told us that we would be playing a game of a few hours and have to relearn all the tactics and rules when the finished product came out, I wonder how many would buy what amounted to a tiny game. I certainly will never do this again. Far better to get the finish game where I start from scratch so that everything I learn won't be thrown out the window.

The EA was for testing the game, not for learning how to play it, also most stuff is still the same. Encounters in first act probably hardly changed and most skills are still the same, just not as easy to obtain. Armor system is still the same too.

I disagree. The game HAS changed. More points are needed for each skill and while many of the skills work to our disadvantage, our opponents' seem to have risen. As for testing, they didn't listen did they? People complained at the difficulty so they made it harder?

Oh well, now that I know I wasn't paying to support the game but to play a mini version, I won't be doing that again. There really is no advantage to paying up front. I realize there is for the makers as they are being supported while they create the game but there really is no upside for the player.

I am glad to hear that you will never play an alpha or beta again and never buy Early Access again. Good. Because you clearly do not understand the concept that "Early Access" and "Alpha/Beta" are by definition, NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT. Things change.

You're darn right that the upside is mostly for the developer. It's also somewhat for the player as well in that they will be getting a product which is generally much better than it would have been without the feedback.
