I have 2 small masterwork runes, and I'm combining both and nothing happens?

I looked up online, and just as Im trying, combining both should make them into a medium masterwork rune. So do I have to progress further in the game for it to work or is it a bug? All I get is "invalid combination".

You have to add in pixie dust.

The wiki is outdated.

I tried a bunch of stuff and then actually looked at the base recipe for runes in my recipe book and it calls for Pixie dust, so i tried pixie dust and it worked. I had already tried bone dust and star dust with 1x 2x 3x small runes and nothing was working. I almost made this same post about 2 hours ago but decided to... you know... play the game a little bit more - read some in-game recipes, and figure it out on my own.
