Dear Larian,

Why everything needs to be complicated and right-hand-over-the-left-ear ? Why do I need to spend hours to understand HOW to make a simple scene for my D&D session?

It takes me TEN DAMNED MINUTES to draw a map onto a battlemat during D&D, is it that hard to come up with SIMPLE TOOLS ?? SIMPLE ! TOOLS ! For stupid retards like me, you know ?

I want to make a simple scene, add some kobolds, call it a day. But NO ! Lets make this as unnecessarily complicated and over the top hard to maneuver, without adding the slightest guide on how to make ANYTHING and then let everyone to fuck around with it.

I want to love this game, I want to love the Game Master Mode, I even bought it at launch day the instant it was released, but I have a life, I have a job and I have no fucking time to waste to effectively become a 3D graphics designer, programmer and sound specialist all in one shebang just to fucking draw a fucking scene for a fucking D&D session !!

GET.YOUR.SHIT.TOGETHER !! And make the tools follow this simple principle: KEEP.IT.SIMPLE.STUPID !!! Also known as KISS. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle)

Is it that hard?

Did you try the Gamemaster mode? There is loads of maps to choose from.
Also the editor isnt that hard to learn.. it's harder yes but it's not all that difficult..
Just took me one afternoon to figure the most of it out using a few tutorials.

The editor is not out for a week yet so have some patience maybe they will make it a bit easier in the future.

Drakkanis, I can understand your frustration, I think we DM and modders have had some terrible setbacks in the near past, being that sword coast stuff, D:OS editor, or maybe others. But keep faith, friend, it took some time for the NWN engines to become great, they were buggy at the beginning. I would counsel you to take a deep breath, watch tutorials around, read the wiki, it is full of interesting things already, and maybe wait a little bit, maybe two or three weeks, to let things get easier. Some people with time on their hands, that make this already great community, will sort things out, learn and share, and it will make things easier for part time modders to do some stuff. Larian might even patch or make the editor better, they seem much more active now that they were on the D:OS editor.

I haven't bought the game yet, but I see more comforting than despairing things for now.

Take it easy.

Cheers.

Dear Drakkanis,

I'm very sorry to hear you're having a hard time getting started. We're doing our utmost best to hear everyone's feedback and improve the Engine. Be sure to check out our wiki (still work in progress, our apologies. We're starting to focus more on guides around now) and the awesome community guides there, here on the forums and youtube.

If there are specific issues we can help you with, don't hesitate to ask about them. While we don't have guides on everything online yet, we can always help out and give directions.

That being said, I do want to ask you to refrain from using anything that can be flagged as foul language in any more posts. I have have several reports already. I understand the possible frustration, but try to keep it as civil as possible while we keep working together on making this experience more agreeable for all of us.

Love and hugs,
Kevin

I believe I needed a hug, dear Kevin.

When the frustration hits, I see red and ... I need a hug. Honest apologies, I am not myself when I get angry on various more or less dumb reasons.

This being said, I beg of you in my knees, have a simple scene editor in Game Master Mode. I almost smashed my keyboard to pieces in frustration as nothing in that editor is user friendly. As in .. nothing. Daedalus' labyrinth is a walk in the park compared to it and I really really do want to hold all my D&D in Divinity from now on because I genuinely believe this is what NWN 2 missed.

So let me give you an example: I have loaded a level that looks like an inn. It has some objects that can be found in GM mode but some of them aren't anywhere but in the Editor. So I try do to whatever normal people like me do: copy the object and duplicate it. Now the issue is that the duplicated object is spawned at its original size. So without a way to resize the object I have no use for it at the current scale.

To keep it tl;dr - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the game, the editor the game master mode. No exception ! I am ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATED and I need a hug, when I want to use the Editor and I find it to be more of a pain than a pleasure to use. I will wait for any and all tutorials, you will provide, but please for the love of Jah keep them simple. You know, for dumb stupid people like me.

Cheers, good health and love of Jah

Hey there! To scale an object use the nifty tool on the left side as shown:

also, private message me and maybe we can get into a screenshare and i can show you some of what i know about making scenes (albeit little, but it is enough to throw some stuff together i imagine.)
