Apparently you can save the dwarf, how the hell im i suppose to know that? i searched everywhere, and logic dictates me that i can go and ask a demon hunter master for some guide (Jahan), guess what? nothing, literally just same quest log every time i find a new letter or clue (oh look bad demon likes pain).

Hey so I just finished this quest a while back and saved the dwarf.

I remember getting a clue somewhere about how the dwarf needs to be "tortured" first before you can save him.
Basically you have to hurt him while he's chained up until he gets knocked down and a different dialogue will pop up.

Then heal him up and do it again and eventually when you talk to him the spirit will sound super aggressive.
From that point you can heal him all the way up because after you break the chains the spirit will come out of the dwarf straight away and the battle will start immediately so you want to make sure the dwarf has health so you don't accidentally kill him.

It's a tough battle because as soon as you damage the spirit enough, he just possesses one of your companions and it does it like 3 times.
My suggestion is to maybe give your party crap gear when doing this quest because when it possessed my Red Prince melee tanker, omg he was soooooo hard to kill just to get the spirit out and then spend a res scroll getting him back to life.

Hope this helps smile

Good tip about giving them terrible equipment, although it's a bit of a pain in the bum to have to arrange it like that. I thought mine had bugged after one of my team got possessed for the second time and I gave up at that point. It's a bit of an ordeal.

Oh man, I finally finished this quest.

Basically you break the pillars once he gives the "LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT!" dialog when you click on him.

Thankfully I didn't have that much trouble with him since I was overleveled for it I think(I delayed it because I couldn't figure out how to bring it out). I casted Haste and Clear Mind on my MC before I broke the last pillar, then I moved first before the demon.

I critted with Blitz and depleted all of its p.armor and some of his health, and one shotted it with All In. On an previous try I thought knocking him down would work, nope he'll just take control of someone anyway. However killing him in one hit before the possession triggers definitely works lol.

EDIT: Huh...although I did one shot him, my character now has the Demonic Invasion debuff on him, even after killing the demon. Dying removes it, though.

Once you manage to free the dwarf, you know, after you murder 3 of your party members, the dwarf adventurer tells you about some items stored away so the order wouldn't find them. This updates your map with a secret. Once at that locations you find a pouch containing.... 3 Gold !!? Is this meant to be a joke? That annoyingly hard encounter with the possessing party demon who uses all the potions and scrolls of your characters and you get ... 3 Gold?

Love the game to bits, but this seems unfair.

Talk to the spirit guarding his room, he'll tell you all about it. There's also some journal pages scattered across the floor.

Hear ye, hear ye! Bishop Alexander was slain by seagulls! Culprits still at large!
