Damage that surfaces deal scales with character's abilities (but not Intelligence). However, the tooltip on surfaces shows damage incorrectly. Screenshot:

As seen on this screenshot, the tooltip says that the poison pool will deal 9-10 Poison damage, while you can clearly see in the Combat Log that it deals 18-19 damage instead (my character has 0 Poison Resist).
