Hey everybody!
I'm interested in how other DMs are approaching this issue? After players successfully finish an adventure they most likely intend to take their existing characters onward to the next play session.
There does not seem to be an option for the DM to save their player's characters. The only way to re-create a player's character (that I've found) was to note down everything about the character (levels, attributes, talents, what loot they had in their inventory, what their magic gear does etc.) and then add all of those things back to the character in the next adventure.
As you can imagine, doing this for 4 characters every time a new adventure starts gets real tedious real quick.
I haven't tried to have every adventure take place in the same campaign file but I'd imagine that doing so would eventually bloat it up to a point where just navigating it would become a nightmare. I'm also not sure how save games interact with content that gets added to a running adventure (Say my players went through a forest last session and we saved and stopped playing. After that session I went ahead and added a cave in prepare mode. Would that cave then show up in play mode if I load from the previous save?).
e: I have tried this now and if you have an existing save for an adventure and then edit the adventure in prepare mode the changes will not show up in the saved adventure; only if you completely restart.
How are others handling the process of moving player characters between adventures?
