Just like the subject. How does lucky charm stat work in the game? Does the party member with points invested in lucky charm stats open the chest/stash or that member can stay stationary at somewhere safe and let the party member with thievery open the the lock chest located far away from the party and still benefit from it?

The char with Lucky Charm must open the container. Then he/she makes a roll and if it's successful you will get a notification and some extra "reward"

Yes, it's possible. Unlocked chests do not open automatically.
