so I am trying to play with a friend who has it on steam and his version is 3.0.142.271 while ours on GOG is 3.0.142.47.

What's up with that??

The latest hotfix (3.0.142.271) is currently only released for the Steam version:

You need to wait for the GOG version hotfix. It also fixes the "permanent wet-status effect"- bug.

edit:
It seems my GOG game has been updated. GOG Galaxy now shows version 3.0.142.271. But the "permanent wet-status effect"- bug is not fixed for me.
