Has anyone else encountered issues with shriekers after coming to the blackpits?

I don't have a chance of using source vampirism on them, since the range is only like 4m.. I also sold the purge wand....

How did you guys solve this?

if you are alone then you are doomed.
If you have teammates, you can let one draw their attention, the other cast the spell.
