Ok first I have to say: My fault. I didn't hit the save button for a while.

This has happended to me several times already: I accidentally deleted my terrain because i selected it together with other stuff. It is not restorable. UNDO function is only undoing some edit actions. I just lost 1 hour of work.

I want really to be able to lock the terrain. It never ever should be selectable nor deletable accidentally.

The whole thing happened because Group function (of items) doesn't work at all here. So i am drag-select always groups of items - which is a mess, because you select easily other stuff (e.g. the terrain)

Ok, now i stop ranting. In case all that is possible, just me humble mind didn't know i am happy to get informed. Otherwise: Please fix this soon.

Thank you.

Hey morez, sorry to hear about this, I know how frustrating it can be. You can prevent this in the future by modifying the kind of objects that your "Select Objects" mode can grab. Right mouse click the select objects icon to get a context box and you will see a list of objects that are selectable. Simply set "Select Terrain" to false. I haven't seen a way to save this as the default behavior, so as far as I know you'll need to do this each time you startup.

That's a nice tip, I'm going to use that for sure. I had been ctrl+clicking the terrain to deselect it all along when I wanted to move objects en masse and the terrain was selected as a result.

Windemere. Thank you, merci, grazie, shookran, bedankt, really helpful that. Though grouping items is working properly for you?

Glad it's helpful. I confess that I'm not quite sure what the purpose of the group function really is, morez. I expected it to keep those items 'grouped' persistently even after I was done with them, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is this what you mean? Because of that, I tend to use prefabs over groups for anything I will be working with frequently.

When selecting stuff, my little "trick" is to always click the "move" tool before pressing delete. If the move square isn't right in the middle of all the items you selected, you probably selected the terrain (or something else) on accident.

Once you have grouped items, you can reselect the whole group by double-clicking on one item in the group.
