I have noticed that the base damage difference between one-handed mace/sword/axe is not too dissimilar from daggers (at this point, 26 base damage for daggers and 32 base damage for the rest). Why should I not use dagger for one-handed melee characters? It may have lower damage (80% of strenght-based 1h), but it can always crit, benefit fully from warfare, and can also use dagger-exclusive rogue skills.

sword eventually does like 150% damage of daggers, and goes very well with shield. I find daggers underpowered because it is pretty hard to get the back stab bonus (you have to be at a correct angle). Bow does far more damage than daggers also.

Dagger's source skill got gimped to oblivion, i mean meteor shower/arrow storm both are doing 10k +, shield throw does 5k bounce without even using source. Mortal blow is neutered and does about 4x your attack damage which isnt much late game but requires alot of set ups.

It is not hard to position yourself using daggers and getting the backstab bonus. There are 2 scoundrel teleport skills and 1 warfare. With The Pawn, repositioning becomes free. Could you present the base values of an unenchanted basic endgame dagger and an unenchanted basic endgame sword? Evidently, they should be at the same gear level.

It shouldn't be compared to bows, as you cannot use a bow with a shield. You can, however, use shields with daggers, so I don't understand why did you bother to mention shield throw bounce as a plus point for swords.

My point being, from my own experience, that daggers falls off heavily compared to everything else. Crit chance isnt an issue since late game it goes as high as 104%! (depend on your luck) so it pretty much is garentee crit everytime. This is where your one hander sword becomes advantageous.
