Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 - The Modding Dungeon Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Modding General This modding tool is way beyond me !

So, I just started the Divinity Engine 2 und tried to build a little town...yeah not so much.

I never used a modding tool before for any kind of game.
Zero experience.
The most complex programs I use are Open Office Text and MS Paint.

To be honest when I started the Divinity Engine 2 I believed it would be like a mixture of The Sims Medieval and Dungeon Keeper. So that I would have in a half hour a little town with a dungeon beneath and ready to play for Gamemaster Mode.

Any advice how to get started ? Or how to even use the UI right because it overwhelms me totally. And how this all works ?

Frequent these modding forums as well. The community here is fucking super. Really, just play around with it.

Yeah it took me a while to understand the editor as well, i used to make mods and stuff for NWN when i was younger so that helped a lot, and there is a steep learning curve to the editor, but hang in there and in no time you will be able to build some awesome stuff in just an hour.

You should check out the Caiden_The_Stoic (not sure if he is here in the forums too) videos on twitch, they are awesome and helped me understand a lot about the editor.

Hope that helps, and hang in there, its kinda hard at first but its amazing.

I'd recommend watching Caiden's twitch stream video titled something like "Editor Basics," he does a great job showing how to use the editor. I believe he's got a post on here titled "Neverwinter Nights Builder wants to help" or something similar with links and stuff. Baardvark has some useful videos as well. Anyhow, good luck, I think you'll be set after checking those out though.

There is definitely a steep learning curve in the beginning, but don't get discouraged. If you feel a little overwhelmed, I would say come back in a few weeks when we get more documentation and tutorials out there and perhaps you'll find an easier time settling in with the workflow. Good luck.
