!!! Spoiler warning. Do not read if you've not beaten the game // don't want the ending spoiled for you !!!

*******

So when you get down beneath Arx cathedral you find Lucian's tomb, but... Lucian is very much alive and kicking. Or rather, sitting in his chair until he gets up to fight you; But...

Can someone explain to me what the deal with that is? Why is there a need for a new divine if Lucian is still there and still largely able to 1v1 the 'real' final boss? Was he behind killing sorcerers / godwoken, or was he swindled by Rex through Dallis who was too dumb to see through it?

I'm genuinely confused about those things. Can someone explain them to me? It's made worse by how if you choose the 'divine' endings other than ascension the ending cinematic still says that he unites the world and leads all races in a successful war against the void.

As a sidenote, it is cool to meet the tyrant king foreshadowed in the 1st chapter, but I do think it was a little bit cheap from a purely story-telling perspective. If no one stays dead for long (cough alexander) it genuinely takes something away from the story. Not much. But the whole thing honestly reminds me of when WoW jumped the shark with Kael'Thas in a similar manner.

I did enjoy the story overall but I would really like some thoughts on the whole Lucian situation!

Bc others don't know Lucian is dead so he can hide from everyone to suck the seven gods's source. But there is still voidwoken disaster so others think there should be a new divine.
Lucian is killing every godwoken bc he want to close the veil and there will be no more source in Rivellon, once for all save Rivellon from the void. There are too many details in the dialog sry that I can't repeat them all.
from the dialog I think Dallis is royal to Lucian, so I don't think she is manipulating Lucian. Indeed Dallis was very dumb that didn't see the lease was broken, maybe is a weak point of the story or maybe Rex is too powerful, after all he was a former source king and had the help from god king.
According to the ending cg I think close the veil is true ending bc u can see every city is prosperity, driftwood, Arx, but if u choose to become the new divine these cities either been continue in war or doomed. once again it proofs that Dallis is on Lucian side bc u can only see her ending at this choice.
btw, welcome every grammar teacher.
