Larian Studios Forums General Chat Chat (Anything) New Story.....

Following a few PM's between myself and JVB I am going to start a new thread regarding a new story. Define Infinity seems to have lost its direction slightly and maybe a fresh story would be good.
I am looking for ideas in this thread, here is what I've thought about so far.
What genre for the tale? Fantasy probably.
Each person to write in their own character obviously. No super-fighters, uber-powers or indestructable heros.

Anyway, lets get some ideas in like where to start, what our objectives will be and so on. Group writing is always difficult as every person has their own different views on where to go. I hope we can work something out.

as you might have read above, it was also my plan to start a new story, since define infinity has lost direction and writers, and I'm affraid it just can't get back on track.

Before you say you want to join, ask yourself if you have the patience to work on a story, and are not to stop after 2 posts..

I would be happy to see other people join.

Well we could start in a Tavern <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
And then have to go on a quest to kill an evil person(s)
clinger: has to be finished by the end of April 2004!!

That way we must try and the story wont get out of hand, if however we don't mange to defeat the villain before May then the Villain wins <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

If we do it we should think about certain rules, such as the tense in which we write and so on.

I previously liked writing it from the 1st person view. Its seems easier with mulitple authors. Writing in the usual 3rd person is better for 1 author controlling a lot of characters.

I think my character this time may be a sort of inept necromancer, bumbling 'Rincewind-Style' through the world. I must think of a name though.

I think we should do it in film noir style. Should be fun.

Another point is the traffic on these boards, now Define Infinity is pinned, but this one won't be. Not at start anyway. It needs a decent life before lynn should pin it.

My suggestions:
-We post a lot and keep it on page 1.
-Or we use my forums, wich is nicely structered in different sections. There is allready 1 story going, well it didn't get far yet. Bit inactive like Define Infinity. And we could keep one topic here with link + updates. So whenever it shows up on page 1 again you'd now you'll have to check my forums.

We indeed need a good plan at front, so we wont get a thousand completely different storylines etc..

Hmm hard to explain, Ill try: everyone explains his tought in in the "I" form combined with regular dialog.

For example:

(- I know his life is a mess, but I asked it anyway )
- Hi, how are you?
(+ He knows my life is a mess, no need to tell him again, I don't want to bore him with my problems)
+ doing just fine, how bout you?

Ah, but do the thoughts need to be in brackets as well?

Or could we use something like italics?

doesn't matter, as long its clear whats dialogue, toughts and action.

I disagree about putting thoughts into brackets and including this in the story.
