At what level does my reputation need to be to get the key from Blake to open the Garden gate?

Do I need the invitation and where do I get the invitation, if so?

Your reputation does not matter (as long as Blake will still talk to you), just whether you have completed one of the quests to get an invitation to the castle. Those quests are;
[*] both army quests
[*] the plague / Dr Elrath quest
[*] the old duke's murder

I see... I always though that your rep. had to increase with a certain amount of points before getting the key

Well- it seems I did just the same thing this time around... only problem *I* have is....
There's NO KEY on the table in the Apothecary Shop!!!

In the german part of this forum they found, that your reputation have to be 19 or higher. Then Blake gives you the key.
