I threw away the stupid Obsidian Lancet because I didn't think you needed it again. Well you do and I don't know where I put. I'm not going to start over for this important piece of the game. I feel like I wasted my money. They should do a better job and telling you what to keep like putting Quest Item on items you need later on.

Well, you shouldn't be able to. Unless they try to deliberately create player frustration.

Kinda agreed, although from a RP perspective I think it's a sweet idea to make you pay the consequences. (They do, sometimes. E.g. if you're asked to bring the head of somebody as proof that you killed him, and Sebille eats said head, you can usually tell your client what happened. They tend to not be impressed.)

What shouldn't happen though is that quests get stuck with no way of recovery. Ancient Neverwinter Nights had a nice feature as a catch-all: They had a magic fountain that would collect quest-essential items if you dropped/sold/destroyed them or if they were no longer obtainable (e.g. if you locked off a certain area). Not very RP-y, admittedly, but it was a nice emergency feature.

I like that idea! I like how they put multiple ways to get skills/items so if you miss it once there is another way you can get it. However, the obsidian lancet is absolutely required and you can't get it anywhere else. Hopefully someone can make a mod with a chest with all items or something.

No bro , you are just used to the moder rpg garbage. In divinity you have to think for yourself and the game doesnt hold your hand. In moder rpgs they just full your inventory with quest items that cant be removed , point the location you have to go, give you a step by step on what to do, you dont have to use your brain basically.

Are you calling NWN1 'modern rpg garbage'?

And apologies, but that is just bad game design. You should not be able to ruin your game with no way of recovery or some sort of *immediate* warning/hint (for allowing a reload to fix the mistake).

"You have killed Malady. You hear the pounding of heavy boots as a host of enraged magisters is bearing down on you. The last thought that crosses your mind as you sputter blood is that that might not have been the best idea you ever had. GAME OVER."

"You have destroyed the book that could have told you where to find X. For a while, you desperately try to find clues, but your search remains fruitless. You spend your last years reminiscing about your adventuring days and wishing you had not set fire to those precious pages. GAME OVER."

Allowing the player to sink 20+ more hours into the game after the fateful moment only to then discover that they ruined their entire game would just be sadistic, if done on purpose.

I guess you need to make a mod that adds a recipe for the Obsidian Lancet then.

The item name is QUEST_Lancet or QUEST_Lancet_Bloody.
