Melee weapons have a stat called Durability. It doesn't seem the weapons can be damaged. It is always 20/20. Merchants have skill called Blacksmithing to be able to repair broken weapons.

Why are there the mechanics? It looks as if their developing was abandoned and they were not removed from the game. It is quite confusing.

It used to be a thing but was a tedious more than anything as major of the durability damage comes from hitting door to proceed through the story because you don't have thievery.

You can still damage weapons though. They just recover their damage right away. The strongest 2H in the game has a durability of 1 and will break after use or if you hit a furniture. That's like the only reason for it now.

its funny because npcs still show as having a blacksmithing stat but that stat is obviously no longer used.

I've used one-handers for attacking barriers and stuff and they wear out pretty quickly. But I'm glad that, other than that, durability has been removed: it was just a chore and added nothing good to gameplay.
