Can i get a brief description of how to go about having a npc that has a patrol, stop, bark, play an animation, then continue on the patrol?

yea i know how to do that, i want to add a pause and an animation at one of the nodes of the spline

There is a script called for an NPC called GEN_SPLINEBEHAVIOUR, in it you can add animations. Haven't tried it out yet though so don't know if it'll work.

yea that didnt work, I did find the playanimation( command but its very weird formatting, if you dont freeze the character, or something before animating, the animation gets overrided by the walking animation.
