So I was completely stuck on how to translate what the tree is saying. I did all of the vaults. Completely cleared the isle. Thought maybe if I go tot he elven cmap they can help. Nope. I was assuming the quest was bugged or something. Finally gave in and needed to look up WTF the problem was online, and found that I needed a wits check to find the hatch to the Archives where I can learn to talk to the tree.

Are you serious? How am I supposed to know this?

I never passed the wits check. Through the questing, I learned where the archives should be through quest dialogue, found a shovel, and manually used the dig command.

Honestly didn't even know you could use the dig command manually. And I still don't recall finding anything that hinted at digging at the archive.
