1. I'm having problems with skills consistently electrifying water. I made some new skills and they were pretty straight forward, but I could just not get them to electrify water. Then I restarted the editor and BAM - they worked perfectly. But then later when I hadn't touched them they just stop working again. I'm at a loss, and I'm doing all my testing in the Sandbox.

2. Speaking of testing, is there something better than the Sandbox? I'm very new so hopefully I've missed something, but when I start it I've given a random lvl 1 character that I can't modify, grant levels to, etc.

3. I'm making a skill similar to Bone Cage or Thick of the Fight that is suppose to give you +1 Aero for each shocked or stunned character (not counting you) within the radius. It works except that if I cast it with no one around it always still gives +1 Aero. I guess I can reword it if this is a limitation to AOE_BOOST.

4. At some point I copied an existing effect and modified it to be a little different, great! However I modified the original before I got to that and I did something wrong:

How can I get rid of my changed version and remove it from the map?

The Sandbox is pretty buggy right now (root templates not saving, among other issues), so I suggest creating a new level with the "Blank" template, and testing things there. You can create characters from existing ones and modify their skills, assign them new character stats, etc.

As far as I know spells wit AOE_BOOST always count the character himself as 1. E.g. Bone Cage will always grant some physical armor since the character himself is counted as 1 corpse.

So I made a very basic level but I don't know how to modify
my avatar. It seems to put in automatically (and randomly) and I can't edit it.

Right. That character is auto-generated by a script. You can make new player root templates and place them in the scene by creating them from existing player characters.
